About [Ah-wah]

Hi, I’m Awa — a multi-hyphenate creative who believes that every moment has a story worth telling. Through event photography, portraiture, retouching, and visual storytelling, I love turning everyday experiences into something meaningful and memorable. With a background in Visual Communications and a deep love for making things with my hands, I’ve built a creative practice that feels true to who I am.

My Creative Journey

I picked up my first camera in 2017, and it quickly became my favorite way to connect with people. Since then, I’ve had the honor of working with brands like Peloton, Mastercard, and Then I Met You, capturing moments that feel authentic and alive. In 2020, I added retouching to my toolkit — a skill that lets me bring even more intention and detail to my work.
Over the years, my retouching work has been featured in Food & Wine, Byrdie, and Shape Magazine, which has been such a rewarding milestone in this journey.

Alongside photography and retouching, I’ve also built experience in social media content creation for Food & Beverage and Fashion brands — developing visuals, strategies, and stories that highlight product, lifestyle, and brand identity in ways that feel fresh and engaging.

What Inspires Me

My values — Transparency, Authenticity, Integrity, Accountability, and Creativity — guide everything I make. I care deeply about creating visuals that feel honest, warm, and rooted in real human experience. Storytelling isn’t just part of my work; it’s who I am.

Outside the Studio

When I’m not shooting or retouching, I’m probably outside somewhere — biking, roller skating, or practicing yoga. I also love sewing and upcycling clothing. It’s a calming, hands-on way for me to play with texture, shape, and color, and so much of that inspiration finds its way back into my creative work.
